At Delta Contracting s Company, essential importance is given to safety and security at every juncture, every step of the way. The company advocates efforts to achieve ‘ZERO reportable injuries’ at each work front and project.
An outbreak of fire, material defect, storm or flood – there are many hazards on construction sites that can put scheduled completion at risk. Delta Contracting ‘all-risks’ insurance enables building contractors and principals to insure against all risks, from ground-breaking through to completion resp. hand-over. ‘Delta Contracting, our tailored construction project policy in Egypt, provides comprehensive insurance cover for major construction projects.
The company has undertaken several initiatives over the years of its experience to improve safety performance, including mandatory induction and training programs, toolbox talks, demonstration of usages of personal protective equipment etc.
Besides these initiatives, Delta Contracting s Company has undertaken the Proactive Safety Observation program which has brought about a paradigm shift in the way safety is observed at all project sites. The program analyses the causes of possible accidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions & unsafe acts. Those unsafe conditions & unsafe acts include Falls from height, Scaffold collapse, Trench collapse, Electric shock, Repetitive motion injuries Each of these causes is systematically reported and pre-emptive actions are taken to mitigate the chances of an accident.
Going one step further, the company has added a new dimension to its safety program by introducing the Behaviour-based Safety program emphasizes that employees need to take ownership of their own safety behavior, like Failure to use proper protective equipment. If they behave in an unsafe manner, they are repeatedly made to correct themselves. Both safe and unsafe behaviors are recorded and displayed as learning opportunities. The program emphasizes that unsafe conditions are created by unsafe behaviors. The purpose of the program is to identify both safe and at-risk behaviors, identify possibilities for injury, communicate the risk, and help identify safer solutions. A BBS steering committee monitors its progress. The feedback process reinforces the use of safe behaviors and helps us determine why certain at-risk behaviors were carried out. Collecting information about at-risk behavior helps management determine the root cause of such behavior and helps in developing an action plan to remove the mental barrier causing this behavior
